Sensing Jupiter

Olio su tela, 70x50cm, 2023

Giove, guida spirituale e molto altro.

Inside the Artwork

At Jupiter’s south pole, nature unveils a spectacle of raw atmospheric power. Unlike anything seen in our solar system, a massive central cyclone is surrounded by five equally immense cyclones, each spanning thousands of kilometers and spinning in a synchronized, pentagonal dance. These storms rage with winds reaching over 350 km/h, forming a breathtaking geometric structure that has remained remarkably stable over years of observation.

Credits. This image of Jupiter’s swirling south polar region was captured by NASA’s Juno spacecraft as it neared completion of its tenth close flyby of the gas giant planet. These tempests reveal the chaotic and majestic nature of Jupiter’s deep atmosphere — a place where weather systems behave unlike any on Earth, defying expectations with their scale, longevity, and elegance.

This cluster of storms is not just a visual marvel — it is a dynamic, living system that pulses and shifts over time, held in delicate balance by the planet’s immense forces. Through Juno’s eye, we witness the beauty of cosmic turbulence.
